Professor Candia's class was 110% different from my English 101 class in every aspect.
I walked into English 102 expecting it to be any other english class; where you just read a few stories or poems, go over them and their meaning, maybe write an essay on them, and move on. I honestly thought it was going to be easier than it was and that I wouldn't have to be so on-my-toes for it. It caught me by surprise but I feel as if I kept up with it pretty well.
A lot of time and effort had to be put into every assignment and I didn't mind that- it made me think. And like Professor Candia always says, things are always better and more enjoyable when they make you actually think!
All of the blogs, the essays, the notes, everything that was given was beneficial when looking at the things that were presented to us on the midterm and I'm going to guess the final as well!
She's a very helpful professor, she can go extremely fast sometimes though and it would make me nervous and then make my handwriting look like legit chicken scratch and when I would go to study or reread my notes for a blog assignment or to look over for the midterm, I sometimes couldn't read what I wrote and I'd think to myself that this isn't going to be a fun ride this semester. But to my surprise, it wasn't as terrible as I assumed it was going to be.
I should've known that not all of my classes were going to be walks in the park, this is college!!!
Like all college students (or any student in any school level), there's things in each and every class that you like and dislike. Particularly in this class I liked the friendliness of everyone; how the class would come together when needed to discuss things or elaborate or even just group up! Everyone was social, and for me, if I didn't understand something somebody would always help me out and make it more clear. I didn't really like how quickly we'd move from story to story, or genre to genre. It could be just me, but I have a little bit of a difficult time transitioning so quickly and being able to have my brain soak up the information.
Professor Candia was a sweetheart I thought. Even though she was tough and very serious, she made it fun in a sense. She was always willing to help and answer questions, and she definitely takes her job and the work she is giving out very seriously, which makes me take it seriously as well seeing that it means something to her, then it should mean something to me and make me want to do that much better on it.
